She Thought It Was Just a Migraine… Until They Saw Her Brain Scan

Marta, 34, had always suffered from headaches. Nothing out of the ordinary. Stress, work, a painkiller, and back to normal. Until one day, everything changed.

It was 7:45 AM when she woke up with an unbearable pain. “This is the worst migraine of my life,” she thought. But what was strange was that she couldn’t move her right hand properly. “It must be nerves,” she told herself.

Two hours later, while drinking her coffee, the cup slipped from her fingers. Her entire arm felt weak. And then, when she tried to speak to her husband, the words wouldn’t come out. Instead, only incoherent sounds escaped her lips.

That was the moment when he, alarmed, rushed her to the hospital. But NO ONE expected what they were about to discover.

Doctors performed an emergency brain scan, and when the results appeared on the screen, the neurologist frowned. “This isn’t a migraine…”

Marta’s heart pounded. Then what was it? Why couldn’t she speak or move her arm?

The answer left her FROZEN.

Marta had suffered a STROKE. A clot in her brain was blocking blood flow, and if they didn’t act quickly, she could be left with permanent damage… or worse.

How could this happen to a young and healthy woman?

Doctors found the reason: a PATENT FORAMEN OVALE (PFO), a small hole in her heart that allowed a clot to bypass her lungs and travel directly to her brain. Something many people have without knowing… until it’s too late.

Fortunately, Marta arrived in time. They administered treatment to dissolve the clot, and after a procedure to close the defect in her heart, she recovered without any lasting effects. But her story could have ended very differently.

If you ever have a “different” kind of headache, with difficulty speaking or moving one side of your body, don’t ignore it. It could be something far more serious than you think.
